2017-18 Budget briefing at business luncheon with HSBA members

The Director of HKETO in Singapore, Mr Bruno Luk, briefed more than 50 key members of the Hong Kong Singapore Business Association (HSBA) on the 2017-18 Budget highlights of Hong Kong at a business luncheon held on March 6 at Tower Club, Singapore, following the Budget was presented to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong on February 22.
Among other highlights in the Budget, Mr Luk has stressed that Hong Kong continues to fully support the Belt and Road Initiative and strives to give full play to Hong Kong's role as a "super-connector" between China and the rest of the world.
Mr Luk also told the audience that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. The HKSAR Government, including all the overseas ETOs, will organise a series of celebration activities under the theme of "Together • Progress • Opportunity" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of establishment of the HKSAR.
Echoing the Belt and Road Initiative which aims to enhance, among others, people-to-people bonds, starting from the 2016 round, the HKETO has extended the scheme to cover three more Hong Kong higher education institutions namely, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Hang Seng Management College, on top of the eight UGC-funded institutions.
