In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China, a number of celebration activities under the theme of “A New Era – Stability, Prosperity, and Opportunity” will be organised, both in Hong Kong and overseas. Hong Kong's past and present are brought to life in an exhibition featuring 40 handmade miniature models showcasing diversified facets of Hong Kong from food culture, traditional festivals to architectures and intangible heritage. Organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore in partnership with Joyful Miniature Association, Hong Kong: Through the Looking Glass features an exquisite array of miniature replicas of various Hong Kong scenes and attractions, including Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, Cheung Chau Bun Festival, State Theatre, Blue House, stilt houses in Tai O and bamboo theatre.
One of the largest Hong Kong miniature exhibitions in Singapore, visitors will be shuttled into an immersive journey to relive the good old days and explore the city's charming present as you tour a variety of miniature works specially flown in from Hong Kong. See, hear and feel the old and present Hong Kong to understand more about this vibrant city with its rich intangible heritage and close-knit neighbourhoods, as well as a new era of opportunities arising from Hong Kong's further integration into the national development through its unique strengths under “One Country, Two Systems”.
During the exhibition period, nine free guided workshops on miniature craft open to the public will be held on weekends*. Each workshop has a quota of 10, and seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis upon on-site registrations, which will begin one hour before the workshop. Participants will get the chance to enjoy their own bites of miniature food in “Hong Kong café style” after a one-hour session. For details on enrolment, please click here
