Foreign staff of companies registered in Hong Kong can apply for “multiple‑entry visas” valid up to 2 years for entry into the Mainland China from the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Hong Kong. Rules for Vietnamese, Laotians and Nepalese eased
The restrictions for Vietnamese, Laotians and Nepalese for employment/settlement in Hong Kong under the existing talent admission schemes have been lifted. Vietnamese nationals meeting certain criteria may apply for multiple-journey visit visa to Hong Kong valid up to 24 months for a stay of no more than 14 days for each journey. Validity of Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents extended
In view of high demand after opening of Hong Kong-Mainland border, validity of Mainland Travel Permits expiring from Jan 1, 2020 to Dec 30, 2023 will be extended to Dec 31, 2023. Holders of these permits can use them when travelling to and from the Mainland, before applying for renewal from public security authorities at the county level or above in the Mainland.

Hong Kong identity card bookings enhanced
To cater for upsurge of demand for replacement of ID cards after resumption of travel, two enhancements have been made to the booking arrangements. Applicants already in possession of ID cards reaching 11 or 18 years of age may make appointments to replace their ID cards during extended service hours at four designated offices of Immigration Department. Those who wish to apply for replacement of new smart identity cards can also use the extended service hours. The bookable period for appointments has also been extended from 24 to 96 working days.

Hong Kong further eases travel rules
Good news for travellers to Hong Kong! From Feb 6, 2023 onwards, Hong Kong has lifted its vaccination requirement for inbound travellers. Inbound travellers only need to conduct a rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours, or a PCR nucleic acid test within 48 hours before scheduled departure time, obtain a negative result and keep the photo of test result for 90 days. After arrival, they are advised to conduct daily RATs between Day 0 and 5.

Hong Kong further eases travel rules
Good news for travellers to Hong Kong! From Dec 29, 2022 onwards, PCR tests on Day 0 and Day 2 are scrapped. Inbound travellers need only to conduct a rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours, or a PCR nucleic acid test within 48 hours before scheduled departure time. After arrival, they are advised to conduct daily RATs between Day 0 and 5. The Vaccine Pass requirement to enter various premises has also been lifted.

Testing regime streamlined
Good news for travellers! From Nov 21, 2022 onwards, testing regime has been adjusted. Nucleic acid tests on Day 4 and 6 are scrapped. All you need to take is a RAT test taken within 24 hours before scheduled departure time, a nucleic acid test under “test-and-go” at Hong Kong airport, a nucleic acid test on Day 2 (free of charge and can be booked online), and daily rapid antigen tests (RATs) after arrival until Day 7.

Inbound persons from overseas places or Taiwan will be subject to quarantine under the "3+4" model, i.e. 3-day compulsory quarantine period at designated quarantine hotels (DQHs), followed by 4-day medical surveillance period at home or other self-arranged accommodation, subject to a ban from visiting certain categories of high-risk premises, and another 3-day self-monitoring period, with continued daily rapid antigen tests until Day 10, and the last nucleic acid test on Day 9. Effective from June 1, 2022, rules for inbound travellers are revised. Children aged under three and transit passengers no longer need to take pre-departure tests. Recently recovered COVID-19 patients can use a doctor certificate and a negative result of rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours to board the plane.
