Welcome Message

Welcome to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore. As one of the three representative offices* of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) in the ASEAN region, our mission is to foster the bilateral relations between Hong Kong and the three members of ASEAN, namely Laos, Singapore and Vietnam, as well as India.

The “one country, two systems” principle is the bedrock of Hong Kong’s stability and continued prosperity since the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. For more than two decades, we have been preserving our own economic and legal systems, including a common law system as well as a simple and low tax regime, with distinctive identities to participate in a number of international organisations. These institutional strengths, coupled with our global connectivity, have landed Hong Kong robustly as an international hub for finance, transport and trading, as well as a centre for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific Region. Under the National 14th Five-Year Plan, we will continue to scale new heights by developing four additional emerging sectors in order for Hong Kong to become an international aviation hub, international innovation and technology hub, regional intellectual property trading hub, and east-meets-west centre for international cultural exchange, seizing the boundless opportunities arising from our proximity to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), an economic powerhouse with more than 86 million population and a combined GDP equivalent to the 9th largest economy in the world, and our ties with Belt and Road countries.

As an outward-facing cosmopolitan city, our ethos has been one that assimilates different cultures, while constantly seeking to innovate and absorb new ideas.
